Hershey review and KRIS' PICS!
Well, another great show, but nothing NEAR Camden!! Steven wasn't as playful, and due to the height of the ramp (at least there was a ramp) there wasn't alot of crowd interaction. HOWEVER they sounded great, and were very playful with each other, once again lots of smiling by all, even Russ :) We were on Tom and Brad's side, so I have some excellent shots of them. And since our seats were a little further back (but still great, 6 seats from the ramp) I was able to get some wide shots of the whole band and stuff.

Once again security were freakin ASSHOLES, tried to take our cameras twice, but I still managed to snap 100 + photos, some very, very good ones of Mr. Whitford.

Now, Joe Fuckin Perry was something to behold last night. He came out in this ankle length, soft, light brown leather (at least I think it was leather) coat. He was magnificent, absolutely perfect. And when he sang Stop Messin, I swear I have NEVER heard him sound better, and Linda agreed. He is really coming out of his shell....it's about fuckin time Joe Fuckin Perry!!! I did not get a pic of the coat cuz by the time I could take pics, he had it off.

Steven was in all white with a white cowboy hat. Tom and Brad both black pants, Brad's were leather, I think Tom's were denim that laced up the front.....me likey. You'll all be able to see it all when Tammy posts, yet again, another great batch of pics!!

It started pouring during our last couple songs, and I saw Steven look out over the crowd, and say to himself "It's fucking pouring". Tom looked magnificent standing at the end of the ramp for Sweet Emotion, light shining around him and pouring rain, totally getting into it!!.. But alas, I was not able to get a pic of that.

Our deep cut for the night was Adams Apple, and they closed with Train, otherwise I don't think there was much difference. And they opened with Mama Kin.

It was a toatl pleasure finally meeting Kristen and her charming boyfirend Brandon. They found us in the lot and hung with us till we went in. I am glad they got to sit outside and listen.!!

That's all for now, I'll start getting pics to Tammy ASAP!!

It was great meeting you guys, too!! We heard everything that went on...without any echo. We saw the big screens perfectly and I was satisfied! I was so excited to hear Joe's voice..when he started talking, I coulda died! Then, he went and sang for me...wow!!

As I said in the other post, I think we may have seen Tony Perry, because there was a boy that VERY MUCH resembled him riding a moped around and then went backstage. Don't know for sure if it was him or not.

From where we were sitting, we saw the KISS busses leave, they were all sitting in the back of one bus watching TV..already! I can't wait to see the pictures!!

Re: Hershey review
Couldn't have said it better myself, Kris!
:D :D :D
But, I hought Joe's coat was fabric....and more on the yellow side then light brown (coulda been the lighting). I was on Joe's side this time. :D He was on fuckin' FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!
:drool
I think Steven was wearing his GOS hat in the beginning, the white pants with the silver stripey designs on 'em (think he wore them at hartford too...), and a white shirt.

He tucked a pink feather boa into the back of his pants again, but I think It wound up getting caught in his fan out on the center ramp, almost pulling him backwards with it! Can anyone confim this? I'm too short to see the goings on below the boys knees when they're on stage! :lol

Steven also preened himself like the mad cat he is! :lol Licked his paws and stroked his fur! :drool

As Kris said, same set list basically, 'cept for Adam's Apple-Awesome!!!! I was hoping they'd play that at one of my shows!
:wow :wow :wow :wow :wow
I just dunno how I'm gonna survive not seeing them again until October!!!!

They we're all in such a great mood, Steven was always smiling at his bandmates with that cheshire grin of his! And they were smiling and grinning and laughing back!!! Too cute!

Steven went up to Brad at one point, reached for something beneath Brad's over-shirt (around his waist area, towards the side) and stuck it on the eneck of Brad's guitar...in the strings I think. Did anyone see this? Does anyone know what it was?

Quote:

Kristen....was he with a chick with pinkish/red hair? I thought I saw him too!He was wearing black leather pants with some jean accents...or in the reverse (jeans with leather accents) a black t-shirt with some red/orangey fire-like design and a jean-like long sleeve over-shirt...had a laminated VIP pass, the same as what I saw the roadies wearing, not the VR laminates I've seen this tour.

I waited around for awhile after missing the roadie who was gonna help with my hat, hoping to see him again (see my hat post for that little story :lol )...and PerryLight walked by me, complimented my hat in passing... then went "backstage" with the chick I described as well as two other dudes his age.

The security last night woulda made Hitler proud.... bat rastards!
One really anal-retentive Nazi (busted DeAnn, Patty and Sue too) sent a minion to harrasss aaron and I during the 2nd blues song. He said to me "You have a recording device, I'm gonna need to take it... ( :D who, me?!?!?!).

It just so happen's that right before he materialized (on my seat behind me), I had stuck the mini digital in my thigh high boots so I could change the film in my regular camera.

So, I was actually loading a new roll of film into that old POS (the one mom got my hat pics with at camden) when the security dude came to confiscate the camera. :D

I showed him it wasn't a recording device, just regular film and asked if he could just take the film and/or batteries instead, and he said, yeah, just to give him the film...which was obviously a brand new roll, not a used one! :lol

He was about to leave when "Der Feuhrer" signaled that it was Aaron who had the digital (which he didn't :lol ) and whent thru the same thing with him...showed him it was film, not digital, and Aaron said, "Do you really want the film?" Then he opened the camera and DRAMATICALLY ripped it out so the whole thing was exposed (he had only taken 2 pics on that roll :lol ) - Emmy worthy performance, really! :rotfl

The security dude actually apologized to us saying he really hates to do this and wouldn't if it was for the the mean little impotent rodent nazi man giving him a hard time.

Throughout this whole ordeal, the digital was still mpeging the show from the thigh of my boot, so I didn't miss a thing! Pun intended!
:lol
Now THAT'S what I call a bootleg recording!!!!
:rotfl :rotfl :rotfl :rotfl :rotfl :rotfl :rotfl :rotfl

Oh yea, me and Elaine had rooms right next to each other, but didn't even know it till after the show!! And we could hear some sound check from our hotel witht he window open, sounded like Joey :)

Elaine, I saw the Steven/Brad thing too, but have no idea what it was. Steven was being very friendly, talking to the guys, smiling alot, lots of chuckling. I got a cute pic of Russ and Steven, and one of Steven with the boa in his pants. He must have just been running or spinning, cuz it is flying out behind him, very cool!!

Re: Hershey review
Here's Harrisburg's "Patriot News" review of the concert.. somebody obviously favored KISS going into the concert, in my opinion! Elaine, yeah that was the same kid I saw, but there wasn't a girl with him...he was alone on the bike thing. I could see through the gate to see enough of the people back there, I did see the back of 2 blonde haired chick's though!
Kris, my brother was RIGHT behind you guys..he thinks. He said that there were 2 people in front of him that kept getting yelled at by security and described what sounds like you two. Isn't that something?!

KISS dominates performance
BY ZACHARY LEWIS
Of The Patriot-News

KISS's music may be simple on paper, but performing it the way they do is an art no one else has mastered.

Smoke, bright lights, explosions, fire, dripping blood, levitating platforms -- these are still a few of KISS's favorite things, even after 30 years. And they were all part of the band's thrilling performance Sunday night at Hersheypark Stadium.

The nearly sold-out concert, a double bill with Aerosmith, was one stop on KISS's farewell tour this summer.

It was impossible to tell who was the main attraction. There were fans of both bands in equal numbers.

But in terms of performance, the night clearly belonged to KISS. Aerosmith's half, exciting as it was, was hampered by a disproportionately heavy bass sound that tended to drown out the vocals, and later by rain.

KISS ran through most of its biggest hits, from "Love Gun" to "Shout it Out Loud," and spared no pyrotechnics. The guitar lines in "I Want You" rang out as thrashing shots from a machine gun, surpassed only by lead singer Paul Stanley wailing like an animal on each syllable of the phrase.

The only way to top this? With bursts of flame, of course. As Stanley had told the audience earlier, "The wilder you get, the wilder we will get. You get the idea."

And wild it was. Bass player Gene Simmons, dressed like a giant bat, did his trademark vampire routine, letting fake blood drip down his chin. This came after showing footage of the band's early days, which reminded everyone how truly shocking these stunts once were.

Near the end, drummer Peter Criss sang an emotional solo and tossed roses into the adoring crowd. But the band couldn't leave until singing the one KISS song everyone everywhere knows, an extended version of "Rock and Roll All Nite."

After a lengthy set change, Aerosmith burst onstage and down a long platform into the crowd with "Mama Kin," singer Steven Tyler in a white suit and Panama hat, guitarist Joe Perry in an orange robe.

First, they ran straight through a handful of classics, including "Same Old Song and Dance," "Love in an Elevator" and "Jaded."

Tyler, somewhat hard to hear in a blur of bass, was his usual dynamic, slithery self, accepting a pink boa from someone and pausing for effect before hitting the high note in "What it Takes."

Perry later introduced a trio of songs from the band's upcoming album, "Honkin' on Bobo." These blues-inspired and predominantly instrumental numbers came with a strong, hard-rock edge.

Following some less-familiar songs from their early album, "Toys in the Attic," the rain grew steadier and the audience began to disperse as Aerosmith wrapped it up with a few more eternal hits, "Dream On," "Walk This Way," and "Sweet Emotion."

Kristen, there were 2 or 3 younger guys standing behind us. One, I think with the darker hair, had kind of a bad complexion. I totally forgot your brother was near us. Y aknow how it is, a little caught up in the moment, and the mind goes in one gear only......AEROSMITH!! I was shaking my ass like there was no tomorrow, they couldn't have missed that thing movin :rotfl :rotfl . And Linda and I are kind of hard to miss. The little blonde and the tall brunette!!

Love the pics Kris!!!!
But I must rant now.... cuz :iab
Can you fuckin' believe that none of the Hershey pics from the new camera came out either?!?!?!
:cry
This is total BULLFUCKINGSHIT!!!!!!!!
:cry
We used the 400 speed film, changed the settings like everyone said and still all we got were flippen trails!
:iab
Canon is gonna reimburse me for the 10 frikken rolls of film that I wasted AND my frikken developing costs... I will see to that. They can have their POS back too.
BAT RASTARDS!
We read the book, did what it told us too... talk about fucked up shit!
It seems as if the closer to the stage I get (or even ON the motherf'n stage itself), the worse and worse the pictures get until I finally get none at all.
:cry
There has to be a camera out there that even a crackhead like me can operate!!!

My camera now is digital. Before that I always used 800 speed disposables at shows and had good results. I also used 800 in my film camera :)

Re: Pics...
I would agree with Camden, but not Hershey... When I showed my stepfather who's a camera buff but too insane to be able to teach me how to use it...but he seems to think that even though it was on the correct settings the camera itself was smarter and figured it would help us out in the low light situation by keeping the shutter open longer even though we had it on the setting that was supposed to prevent the shutter staying open too long.
:dunno
I'm gonna get your camera, and at rick springfield you can show me how to use the little bastard and what setting or whatever it supposed to be at for concerts! :lol And that's how it'll stay until you tell me otherwise.
:rotfl
I'm tired of getting shitty pics, that way my pics should at least be visible and maybe even as good as yours!

Elaine, it's really easy!! There is no "setting" you just point and click!!

As for Rick, is Aaron going to, or are you gonna tag along with us? I'm not having any luck getting a room for the night. Everyone wants a 2 night reservation. But if we show up and rooms are available, we can get one for one night. Otherwise, we just may head home after the show. Just want toget all my ducks in a row :)

All around Asbury Park. Even called the Stone Pony myself and was told that is pretty standard around there, which didn't really surprise me as that is pretty standard for the Jersey Shore period. And some places don't take reservations, it's first come/first serve, and others are just way too expensive. I never have luck with one night reservations anywhere on the Jersey Shore, every place I call wants a 2 night reservation. So we wing it :)

That really surprises me about the hotels/motels at the Jersey Shore. Usually after Labor Day, the 2 night minimum stay is waived. What town exactly are you looking in? I will contact some of my friends/family and see if they know of any in the area that don't require 2 nights.

And what is the date of the show again?

Around Asbury Park are LOTS of B & B's. the ones I called have 2 night minimums through the end of September. There are some notel motels in Asbury Park but they don't take reservations, it's first come/first serve.

Don't worry about it Mary. We're just gonna go and wing it. If we can't find a room we're just gonna come home. Thanks though :)

My pictures came out AWESOME!! My camera is NOT even a digital. It is small just like Kris' camera. I just love it. I am going to ask Santa for a digital like Kris' this year. :cartman
(I'll get one) :boobies Her camera is so easy to operate. But, so is mine. It is just not digital. I'll "share" my pictures when I come off of this high that I am on. They REALLY turned out good!! Kris, I can't wait for you to see them!! We'll get them up on my gallery in no time. Off to see the Boyz in DC tomorrow. How lucky am I to get offered TWO FREE VIP Passes for tomorrow night?????? FOOD, DRINKS, PARKING. THE WHOLE SHOW!! I will be taking my camera!
:ta

Look for me on TV. I'll be in the VIP section next to the Military section. The Boyz come on at 8:25 and play until 8:55.

What type of camera are you using???

Elaine!!
I am sorry about your camera...did you purchase oneof the ones that I e-mailed you about??? I am sorry about your pics...but, I can relate, last year when I got my film developed, all I got was white little teeny heads and lots of lights...and I work with photographers. Next time I am asking for advice....from Kris!!

Actually no-I couldn't decide and time ran out, so I got a canon z155 regular film... I could understand the camden pics screwing up if I used the wrong film, but by all indications the hershey pics should have been fine.
:(

Technology and I just really don't get along.
:lol

Re: Pics...
My camera is a Fuji A303, 3.2 megapixel, with 5 different pic settings (from very low to portrait quality) zoom and flash. I use the middle setting and get about 300 pics on 128 MB card, so I able to click away before downloading!!

The pics you are seeing are scaled down for e-mailing (a feature Kodak shareware does for me automatically), but the originals are much bigger. I can use them as wallpapers :) I then order prints from Kodak online and get them in a matter of days. I got my Camden pics yesterday and they are awesome!! 4 x 6 prints are .29 each, and the program will tell you how large of a pic you can get based on the resolution. All of these pics can be ordered up to 18 x 20 (or 22), so I am gonna get some of the really good ones in 8 x 10 :)

My film camera was a Minolta, the Freedom line. I took excellent pics with that too, but it has gone to the camera shop in the sky thanks to my hubby :(

I researched digitals long and hard, and the best place to buy this one (and most others) is at buydig.com. And make sure you get a 128MB card, the 8mb that comes with it is worthless :)

I'm so glad you all like my pics so much :thanks

Re: Pics...
Thanks for all the info, Kris!
Are the cards the little stamp sized thingy's?
Or does it take something different?

Re: Pics...
They are small, but there are different ones. You have to make sure you get the right one. I believe it takes the XD card. But if you order it off buydig.com, you can get a package with a 128MB card and a case, for a very nice price!!
